REQUIREMENTS FOR TRADEMARK REGISTRATION IN RWANDA
1. Payment receipt (original)
2.Application letter – TM registration (original) addressed to the registrar general
3.Application form (trade mark) (original) duly filled and signed by the company representative
4.Reproduction of the mark (Simple copy) not exceeding 8cm of height and 10cm with 4 specimens
5.Nice classification
6.Certificate of domestic company registration (Simple copy)
7.Proof of identity (original + Simple copy) of the authorized representative (passport or national ID for a Rwandan)
8. Power of attorney (an authentic copy)
TIME FRAME FOR REGISTRATION
Trademark registration in Rwanda takes approximately 90 days from the date of submission of application.
TRADEMARK REGISTRATION COST
The cost of registration at Rwanda development Board is approximately 40,000 FRW (40 USD) per class.
Legal fees for lawyers or agent varies but it ranges from 600,000 frw ( 600$) but it can go over 3,000 USD depending on the experience & exposure of trademark agent or Lawyer.
Rwanda development Board will not register a mark if it is confusing, misleading or deceptive and
descriptive.
